2024 CIRCLE OF EXCELLENCE: Recognizing Five Community Providers in Colusa County

Colusa County Recovery's Top Picks
2024 Circle Of Excellence | Colusa County

(10-29-2024) - Over the past nearly four years Colusa County Recovery (CCR) has worked directly with peers from all walks of life in our community, and we've gained valuable insight into the impact of other local service providers.

We've heard firsthand how these organizations make a difference—and sadly, we've also heard reports of organizations that have received less favorable feedback. Based on these experiences, we're honored to highlight five providers that consistently go above and beyond to support our community. These providers exemplify dedication, innovation, and a true commitment to improving lives.

CIRCLE OF EXCELLENCE

Here are the five Colusa County community providers we celebrate:

  • Housing Assistance Services: Health and Human Services has consistently ranked high in peer satisfaction for their outstanding Housing Assistance Services, which play a vital role in preventing and addressing homelessness in Colusa County. They are deeply committed to the Housing First approach, working tirelessly to connect individuals and families facing housing crises with safe and stable housing. They also consistently received high marks in peer satisfaction with food assistance (CalFresh), in-home support services, and senior nutrition, specifically their Meals on Wheels program, which is delivered on Thursdays.

  • Colusa County Behavioral Health: Colusa County Behavioral Health Services has earned solid praise from peers, and for good reason. Their commitment to helping people overcome substance use disorders is evident in the countless success stories of those that have achieved long-term sobriety through therapy, group counseling, and other support methods. They understand that addiction is a complex issue, and they provide a comprehensive array of support and services to meet individual needs. They don't just help people get sober; they empower them to build fulfilling lives. We also wish to acknowledge their drop-in center Safe Haven, which continues to earn positive feedback from a segment of our peer base, who utilizes their food pantry, wellness and recovery groups, arts and crafts classes, computer access, and washer and dryer.

  • Adult Education: The Colusa County Office of Education provides a wide range of opportunities for adults to continue their education and pursue their goals. Their Adult Education programs empower individuals to earn their GED, learn English, or gain valuable job skills. They provide the tools and support needed to overcome barriers and achieve personal and professional growth. We are excited to see what new learning opportunities for adults will be rolled out in 2025.

  • DRC Relapse Prevention Program: The DRC Relapse Prevention Program (RRP), offered through the Day Reporting Center at the Colusa County Department of Probation, shines in innovation and commitment. They assist members of our community in their battle with addiction through a multi-faceted approach that includes supervision, mentorship, testing, and accountability. The RRP operates every Tuesday from 4 PM to 8 PM and consists of peer support, education and relapse prevention components, as well as Moral Reconation Therapy (all evidence-based CBT programs). We have witnessed numerous justice involved individuals obtain over a year or more of continuous sobriety through the DRC’s impactful, recovery affirming program.

  • Family Action Centers: We compared a number of worthy community nonprofits that support our community and are pleased to award Family Action Centers our 5th spot in our outstanding Community Providers recognition list. Family Action Centers are a pillar of strength for individuals and families facing challenges. They offer a wide range of services in English and Spanish, including food assistance, parenting support, help with obtaining essential services, and mentoring programs. Their holistic approach fosters resilience and empowers people to overcome challenges and build a brighter future for themselves and their families.

We hope you have enjoyed our CIRCLE OF EXCELLENCE community providers recognition list. This is our first annual selection of outstanding community providers in Colusa County. We look forward to continuing this tradition each year in October, recognizing those who make a significant difference in the lives of not only our peers but the community at large.
