That day his child-like happiness was robbed, his disease was born, and he knew he wasn’t enough. This Narcotics Anonymous speaker, Ousmane D., gives us a hilarious and inspiring talk about his journey in and out of recovery, and credits NA for giving him a richer, and fuller understanding of a Higher Power. His story is full of humorous antics about his days using, but eventually he found he wasn’t happy with, or without the drugs. After a particularly hard run, he decides to call a treatment center, where he heard the message of recovery through H & I (Hospitals and Institutions). He suggests that once you get out of treatment, you go directly to an NA meeting, sit in the front row, get a sponsor, and get a homegroup. He wraps up his talk with 3 stories – the first is about two men trying to out run a lion; the next about a forest, a gorilla, and a boy; the third about a fox and a lion in a restaurant – each with a recovery related moral.
