Navigating People, Places, and Things
The early days of recovery can be both exciting and challenging as you adjust to a new way of life. One of the biggest challenges many of us faced during this time was navigating the people, places, and things that might trigger cravings to use and lead to a possible setback in our recovery.
Our #1 sobriety tip to anyone new in recovery is to avoid spending time with people who may encourage you to drink or use drugs or socializing at risky places like bars, neighborhood parties (where the drinks are flowing) or casinos. Instead, surround yourself with supportive friends, peers, and family members who understand your commitment to sobriety, and remember you can always reach out to us for extra support.
Recovery is a journey and it's okay to ask for help when you need it. Stay strong, stay sober, and congratulations again on this important step in your life.
