August 29, 2025 - (COLUSA) - On September 3rd, a group of peers from Safe Haven Wellness and Recovery Center and staff members from Colusa County Behavioral Health Services will be heading to Sacramento for the 33rd Annual Recovery Happens event.

This empowering rally at the State Capitol is a major opportunity for peers to connect with the broader recovery community and celebrate the progress they and others have made.
This day-long event celebrates individuals in recovery from mental health and substance use disorders, raises awareness about these issues, and reduces the stigma associated with them. As part of September's National Recovery Month campaign, the event provides a fun, family-friendly atmosphere with resources, food, music, and activities to highlight that recovery happens and is within reach, while also encouraging broader community support.
The event is a personal milestone for many attendees, who are looking forward to standing in solidarity with others.
"I'm excited to be attending Recovery Happens and appreciate Safe Haven making this happen," says Rob, a peer from the center.

The Recovery Happens annual event intentionally amplifies the voices of peers and the organizations that support them, and frequently features inspiring speakers with lived experience.
