Colusa County Welcomes Jeannie Armstrong as Director of Behavioral Health Services
The Right Person for the Right Job

Sometimes the right person for the job is someone who already knows the community, understands its challenges, and has spent years working to make a difference. That certainly appears to be the case with Jeannie Armstrong, Colusa County’s newly appointed Director of Behavioral Health Services.
As founder of Colusa County Recovery, I've had the good fortune to interact with Jeannie at community events held at Safe Haven, Behavioral Health's drop-in center.
She has always been friendly, warm, approachable, and genuinely engaged with the people around her. Those qualities matter, especially in a position where compassion and community relationships are so important.
Armstrong's appointment was announced on October 26, 2026, following a competitive recruitment and interview process conducted by the Colusa County Board of Supervisors.
Her experience speaks for itself. Armstrong has served Colusa County Behavioral Health Services since 2013, most recently as Interim Director, following her tenure as Deputy Director. With more than a decade of service, she brings valuable institutional knowledge, established community relationships, and a firsthand understanding of the county's behavioral health needs.
Board of Supervisors Chair Jose Merced Corona, representing District 1, praised Armstrong's experience, dedication to public service, and compassionate leadership in announcing her appointment.
For her part, Armstrong expressed gratitude for the opportunity to lead behavioral health services in her home county, emphasizing her commitment to expanding access to quality care, strengthening community partnerships, and ensuring residents receive compassionate and responsive services.
As Director, Armstrong will oversee the county's mental health and substance use disorder services, including efforts to improve access to care and support residents facing significant challenges.
For those of us working at the grassroots level, strong relationships between county leadership, community organizations, and the people we serve are essential.
Jeannie Armstrong brings both experience and a personal connection to this community. I look forward to seeing her leadership in this important role and wish her every success.
