Moral Reconation Therapy
Moral Reconation Therapy (MRT) is a type of behavioral therapy designed to decrease the likelihood of someone returning to abusing chemical substances, alcohol or both.
It teaches people with substance use disorders how to focus on the moral aspects of their illness, and the social consequences associated with using drugs and alcohol.
MRT started as a behavioral treatment for offender populations to reduce the likelihood of re-offending; and is now a widely adopted cognitive-behavioral approach to treating substance use disorders under the guidance of; licensed therapists, drug counselors, trained MRT facilitators, qualified peer support specialists, probation officers and other behavioral health service professionals.
To find out more about MRT in your area, please contact your local Behavioral Health Service provider.
