What Is An Affirmation?

 

According to the English American Dictionary, to “affirm” is to state that something is true. When applied as an affirmation, it becomes a statement of truth which one aspires to absorb into their life. 

 

Affirmations are dynamic and practical — not wishful thinking: Positive affirmations are defined as statements that affirm something to be true. To explain, positive affirmations generally mean positive phrases that a person repeats to themselves to describe how they want to be. Positive affirmations are positive phrases or statements used to challenge and eliminate negative or unhelpful thoughts that would hold one back. Practicing positive affirmations can be extremely simple. It mainly involves picking a phrase and repeating it to oneself constantly. Positive affirmations require regular practice, ideally a few minutes every day to make lasting, long-term changes to the way one thinks and feels. Positive affirmations are widely accepted and well-established in psychological studies.

Trust yourself and trust the universe that dreams do come true once you really start believing in them.

Constantly remind yourself that you do the best you can every day and you learn daily from your mistakes. Even if you had a bad day today, just appreciate yourself for trying and making a little progress every single day.

The next time you see yourself in the mirror, stop for a minute, look into your eyes and simply say “I love you”. Tell yourself that you love all the imperfections in yourself because that is really what makes you the person you are. You cannot expect to give love to other people if you do not give it to yourself first. When you start accepting and loving the person you are inside, you will open up your heart to receive even more love and appreciation from other people. Everything starts with you- love yourself for who you are every single day.
